PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Follow routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency of school vehicles.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance and safety procedures
High School Diploma or equivalent desired
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of basic techniques of mechanics
Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies.
General knowledge of a vehicle with diesel or gas engine.
Class B-CDL Driver's license Required within one year
Annual physical exam
School bus driver certificate
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Maintain a program of preventive maintenance to ensure the comfort, health, and safety of students and staff as assigned.
- Service and maintain school vehicles in the best condition possible and within the scheduled time required.
- Assist with state inspections.
- Check vehicles for torn seats and repair as needed.
- Substitute bus driver or aide as needed.
- Clean shop floors, stalls, driveways, tools, and equipment.
- Perform inspection of machines and equipment for safety and efficiency.
- Perform mechanical repairs of work under supervision of a mechanic to repair or replace tires, bulbs, and accessories.
- Disassemble simple components and clean parts for reassemble.
- Assist mechanics with lifting and maneuvering heavy parts and components.
- Request parts and tools for mechanics as needed.
- Check fluid levels and replace oil, water, battery, and other fluids as needed.
- Help in maintain accurate, updated records of preventive maintenance.
- Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to established safety procedures.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc.
- Correct unsafe condition in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable tosupervisor immediately.
- Record use of gas and miles for buses daily.
- Follow safety codes and standards.
- Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, responsible, and serve as a role model for all district staff.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
- Keep informed of and comply with all state and district policies and regulations concerning primary job functions.
FISD pays $365 a month towards TRS Health Insurance.
You can earn up to 5 local and 5 state days.
